The crime management, regulatory compliance and financial crime employment markets have experienced major changes in the last 10 years.
The size of the market has grown. There has been a growth in newly formed police, offender management agencies and regulators. In addition legislation such as the Proceeds of Crime Act and Money Laundering Regulations has created the need for new commercial financial crime compliance business areas.
As a result of this growth there has been a huge increase in the mobility of practitioners between the traditional enforcement authorities (police and customs) and into and between the regulatory, community safety and commercial/compliance work sectors.
Where once before, much of these work sectors were the last bastion of a ‘job for life’, the message from senior management within these agencies/authorities to their up and coming practitioners is, the best of the best should take on challenges in crime & offender management, enforcement and compliance management roles within agencies with different cultures and challenges.
