Swift and Visible Justice to Tackle Antisocial Behaviour
Red Snapper Managed Services is pleased to announce it is supporting the Nottinghamshire PCC by providing an Immediate Justice service. This ground breaking initiative is designed to tackle antisocial behaviour head-on.
The aim is to show communities in a very visible way that antisocial behaviour is being treated seriously and with urgency, whilst also acting as a deterrent to others.
It will only be available to eligible first-time or low-level offenders and gives them an alternative to going to court or paying fines – by spending a set amount of time repairing the harm they have caused to communities.
Residents impacted by such behaviour will witness offenders swiftly contributing positively to the community, whether through street clean-ups or volunteering at soup kitchens. This impactful scheme not only addresses antisocial behaviour urgently but also acts as a visible deterrent.
To ensure swift action is taken in response to the antisocial behaviour, Immediate Justice placements are to be completed within 48 hours of the Police completing the referral to the service.
Offenders who are referred to the scheme will be supervised by enforcement service Red Snapper, as they go out to carry out work in neighbourhoods across the city and county.
We’re delighted to share that this innovative project has gained significant traction, catching the attention of local and regional news stations.
Councillor David Ellis, Portfolio Holder for Public Protection at Gedling Borough Council, said: “We’re supporting this PCC initiative which will see first time offenders taking part in community clean ups across Nottinghamshire.
“One of Gedling Borough Council’s priorities is reducing crime and the fear of crime so that residents feel safe and protected in their neighbourhoods. Schemes like this, which should act as a deterrent, are always welcome and we will continue to support the PCC with any work that contributes to this priority.”
To report antisocial behaviour call Nottinghamshire Police on 101 or contact your local council.
