Red Snapper Learning (RSL) is proud to support the Prime Minister’s personal commitment to reduce violence against women and girls by half by delivering targeted training as part of a nationwide initiative.
On Monday, 25th November, the Prime Minister convened police chiefs, industry leaders, and transport officials to reinforce his government’s commitment to halving violence against women and girls. As part of this mission, the Prime Minister announced plans to make spiking a specific criminal offence, alongside a coordinated call for action across police forces, transport networks, and venues to tackle this cowardly crime.
RSL is playing a pivotal role in this effort by providing training to thousands of staff working in the night-time economy. Beginning with a pilot in December, the training will be expanded to reach up to 10,000 bar staff nationwide by spring 2025.
Empowering the Night-Time Economy
RSL’s training programme is designed to equip night-time economy workers with the practical skills needed to:
- Prevent incidents of spiking.
- Support victims effectively and empathetically.
- Assist police in gathering evidence to facilitate successful prosecutions.Dipti Mouj, RSL’s Head of Safeguarding Training, emphasised the importance of this initiative:
“This is an incredibly important project for RSL. Working directly with night-time economy workers to combat spiking is a sensible ‘front line’ crime prevention strategy. Our training will be engaging, practical, and empowering, giving workers the knowledge and confidence to act decisively.”
